Canon - Mutual comparison of the canon vocabulary of Adûnaic, Westron and other Tolkien languages

A mutual comparison of canon terms and word roots from Tolkien's fictional languages, in the manner of a Swadesh list.

Within the context of this blog, the forms of these words that are considered canon forms, are all of those terms that Tolkien created during his lifetime and that survive directly in his notes (whether published in books, accessible online, or present in the archives of several university libraries and partly online as well). 

This article is considered complete in terms of its contents and its current state. 

Canon - The "Haladinic languages" (Halad(in)ic and Dunlendish) and their known vocabulary

This article is included mainly for completeness' sake. While Adunaic, also known as Númenórean, had developed from the Edain languages of Beor's people and Hador's people (the House of Beor and House of Hador), two of the Mannish nationalities from the First Age, known as the Edain, the third Edain natonality - the Haladin ("Haleth's people") - had a completely different language.

Táto reč, nazvime ju "halad(ín)čina" teda patrila do samostatnej jazykovej rodiny v rámci ľudských jazykov Stredozeme (a Ardy ako takej). Tolkien nám toho o tomto jazyku priveľa nezanechal, ale poznáme z neho určité množstvo slovnej zásoby, ako aj z jazykov, ktoré sa z neho vyčlenili v neskorších érach Stredozeme, alebo s ním mali vývojové a príbuzenské vzťahy. Tento článok sa pozrie na kánonickú slovnú zásobu, ktorú z hypotetickej "halad(ín)skej jazykovej rodiny" bezpečne poznáme.

Canon - Nouns - Personal names and epithets

Please, do not ask, why this article doesn't include this or that name of elvish origin, or a name originating from some other Mannish (human) languages of Middle-earth. In this article, I only include officially known names from Adunaic and Westron, masculine names and feminine names alike.

Just between you and me... Many Númenorean names, especially monikers of rules and epithets, sound like the names of some metal band members when translated. ;-)
